"We struggled in games one and two," Dalager said. "Once we got our ball handling down in game three, we really competed with them. We just didn't take advantage of certain opportunities. Nebraska was digging a lot of our shots, but I thought we served aggresively."
The Cyclones played solidly in game three. They hit .175 from the floor and pounded 12 kills, but Nebraska proved to be too much, hitting .405 from the floor and hitting 22 kills to win game three, 30-28, and the match, 3-0.
"We started off very slowly," head coach Linda Crum said. "But we finished strong in game three. I thought we passed very well in that third game. We took some good swings, we were relaxed and focused. We pushed them right up until the end. A couple of points either way and I think we could've taken game three. I was proud of the kids, especially in game three."
"Overall, we didn't ball handle very well in games one and two and once we got going, we played well in game three. I thought Renae had a nice match and Brittany played a solid defensive match. Nicole also had a nice match. She was solid in her ball handling and did a lot of good things for us that aren't always going to show up in a stat sheet."
Iowa State returns home to play host to Colorado on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Hilton Coliseum starting at 7 p.m.
