LINCOLN, Neb. -- In their last regular season meet Sunday, the Cyclones recorded their second-highest score of the 2003 season, but were defeated by the Huskers, 197.050-198.300.
In the all-around competition, freshman Erin Dethloff recorded one of her highest scores of the season and grabbed third place (39.50). Fellow freshman Laura-Kay Powell claimed sixth and recorded her second-highest score in the all-around, 39.150. Husker Richelle Simpson claimed first-place honors with a 39.825 and her teammate A.J. Lamb took second place with a 39.70.
On the vault, Simpson took first place with a perfect 10. Husker teammates, Lamb and Jess Wertz, shared second-place honors (9.95). ISU's Abigail Richey and Powell tied for fourth place (9.925). Powell set a career-high on the event.
In first place on the bars was Nebraska's Julie Houg (9.95). Lamb grabbed second with a 9.925. Dethloff finished in a three-way tie for third along with Simpson and Husker Libby Landgraf (9.90).
First and second palcw on the beam were taken by Nebraska's Simpson (9.975) and Jamie Saas (9.950). Cyclone teammates Chee Chee Calina, Dethloff and Richey shared third-place honors (9.925). Richey and Dethloff set career highs with this score, while Calina matched her career high.
Finishing in a tie for first place on the floor were Lamb and Simpson (9.95). Husker Tami Harris claimed third place (9.925). In a three-way tie for fourth were Iowa State's Gabby Layne and Nebraska's Jen French and Houk (9.90).
The Cyclones will next travel to Columba, Missouri to compete in the Big 12 Championships on Saturday, March 29 at 7 p.m.
