No. 19 Cyclones Grab First Big 12 Victory

AMES, Iowa -- The Cyclone gymnasts claimed their first win in the Big 12 Friday night after defeating Missouri, 196.450-195.375.  With their second-highest team score of the season, 
Coach K.J. Kindler said, "We wanted to prove we weren't at our best in the first meet (against 
ISU swept the beam and floor competitions.
After a tough fall during warm-ups, freshman Laura-Kay Powell claimed first place on the beam with a 9.90.  Sharing second-place honors were Cyclone teammates Susan Stock and Chee Chee Calina (9.85).  
Kindler commented, "L-K (Powell) was the hero of the day.  After a bad fall during warm-ups, she was able to overcome it and come back to compete all-around for the first time in awhile."
Powell took another first-place finish on the floor (9.90).  Placing in a two-way tie for second were 
Freshman Erin Dethloff took first place on the bars with 9.85.  Finishing in a three-way tie for second were Kuplicki, Calina and Tiger Andrea Nervig, 9.775.  ISU's Abigail Richey came in fifth with a career-high 9.725.
Dethloff, Robinson and Stock shared first-place honors on the vault, 9.875.  Sharing fourth place were 
Winning the all-around competition for the third-straight week was Dethloff, 39.175.  Second place went to Robinson with a 39.70.  Powell claimed third with a 38.575.
