Iowa State's Kate Kirwan Named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week

DALLAS, Texas - Iowa State redshirt freshman Kate Kirwan was named Big 12 Soccer Newcomer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Kirwan has scored one goal in each of Iowa State's last two games, including the game-winner in ISU's 2-0 victory over Mississippi State. The Flower Mound, Texas, native scored her first collegiate goal and took a career-high four shots at Illinois State Friday. She has collected points in each of the last three contests and is tied for the team lead in shots (16), points (6), goals (2) and assists (2).

Iowa State (3-2-2) opens the Big 12 season at Nebraska on Friday, Sept. 26.
