AMES, Iowa-- Iowa State freshman Joanna Haig was named the Big 12 Conference Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Haig helped lead Iowa State to its third straight conference win with a 2-0 shut out over Missouri on Sunday. The freshman goalkeeper made 13 saves in her second shut out of the year. The Inver Grove Heights, Minn., native has not allowed a goal in two-and-a-half games and has allowed only one goal in the last three contests with 23 saves. She currently ranks third in the league standings with 56 saves and is tied for fifth with two shut outs.
Iowa State plays Oklahoma on Friday night and Oklahoma State on Sunday. Game time is 7 p.m., and noon, respectively.
