Erin Witte Named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week

AMES, Iowa-- Iowa State freshman Erin Witte was named the Big 12 Soccer Newcomer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Witte helped Iowa State to its first two conference wins of the season against Baylor and Texas Tech last weekend. She scored the game-tying goal in the Baylor match before the Cyclones were victorious in double overtime. The Sandy, Utah, native also took two shots against Texas Tech on Sunday with one on goal. Witte has collected points in two of the last three contests and is tied for the team lead in goals (3) and assists (2) and is first on the team with eight points.
Iowa State plays the first of four-straight road contests beginning on Sunday when it takes on Missouri in Columbia. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
