AMES, Iowa (AP) - Curtis Stinson scored 17 points as Iowa State beat San Diego State 69-59 Tuesday night.
Jared Homan scored 16 points and Will Blalock scored 15 for the Cyclones (7-2).
San Diego State's Brandon Heath had 20 points and Marcus Slaughter 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Aztecs (5-6).
The Cyclones trailed only once in the game, at 47-44 after a 3-pointer by Slaughter with 9 minutes, 32 seconds remaining. Iowa State answered with a 13-0 run to regain control.
Homan and Stinson each had four points in that run while Blalock had three. Stinson scored 11 of his 17 points in the second half.
The Cyclones shot 49.1 percent from the field and forced 17 turnovers, but the Aztecs stayed in the game by making nine 3-pointers.
Homan and Tasheed Carr each grabbed seven rebounds to lead Iowa State. Homan also blocked three shots, which allowed him to equal Kelvin Cato's career record of 189.
The Cyclones led by as many as 13 points in the first half before settling for a 32-29 lead at halftime. A basket by Blalock gave Iowa State a 28-15 lead with 5:53 left in the half, but San Diego State went on a 14-2 run to slice the lead to 30-29 with 1:45 remaining.
Heath scored eight points in that Aztec run, including a pair of 3-pointers he sandwiched around his block of a John Neal shot. Chris Walton and John Sharper also had 3s in that run.
