ISU Soccer Plays Host to Best of Iowa Tournament

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State soccer team will play host to the 2005 Best of Iowa Soccer Tournament on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. at the ISU Soccer Complex. It is the first of two spring tournaments for the Cyclones. Along with Iowa State, the tournament field includes Iowa, Northern Iowa and Drake. The event is free and open to the public.

The Cyclones will take on Iowa on Saturday at 10 a.m. Drake and Northern Iowa will then play at approximately 11:30 a.m. The afternoon session will start at 2 p.m., with the third place game. The tournament will conclude with the championship contest at approximately 3:30 p.m.

"We have had a great spring season so far, and we are looking forward to playing in the Best of Iowa Tournament this weekend," head coach Rebecca Hornbacher said. "The team has been working hard on improving many facets of their game in the off season. This will give us an opportunity to have a look at our team competing against quality competition and also see some players playing in different positions than they did in the fall."

The Cyclones conclude their spring season on April 24 when they travel to Minnesota to take part in the Minnesota Tournament, hosted by the University of Minnesota. That tournament includes Iowa State, Iowa, Minnesota, Creighton, South Dakota State and North Dakota State.
