AMES, Iowa - Six participants from 2004 College Cup, including five from the Big 12 Conference, highlight the 2005 Iowa State women's soccer team's schedule. Unique to the Cyclones' upcoming campaign is they will play 12 out of their 19 games in the state of Iowa.
ISU opens the regular-season slate on the road against SEC powers Mississippi State and Ole Miss on Aug. 26 and 28, respectively. The Cyclones then return home to play host to Purdue and Indiana of the Big Ten on Sept. 2 and 4 in the inaugural Big 12/Big Ten Challenge. ISU will challenge its third-straight Big Ten opponent when it travels to Iowa City on Sept. 7 to battle instate rival, Iowa. Iowa State returns home on Sept. 9 to take on South Dakota State and Colorado College on Sept. 11. The Cyclones close out the non-conference portion of their schedule at the Drake Tournament where they will play regional foe and a 2004 College Cup participant, Creighton, on Sept. 16 and finish up the weekend with a contest against the host Bulldogs on Sept. 18.
ISU faces Texas Tech in its Big 12 opener on Sept. 23 in Lubbock, followed by a visit to Colorado on Sept. 25. Iowa State will also battle Texas A&M, Baylor and Nebraska on the road this year, while hosting Missouri, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma at the ISU Soccer Complex this season.
