In the 37th-minute, the Cyclones capitalized on the scoring opportunities. Freshman Odino took a shot from 16-yards out and was blocked by a Texas Tech defender. Odino immediately found the rebound and stuck her second shot in the back of the net in the lower left corner, to give
“I am real proud of Odino's effort,” said head coach Rebecca Hornbacher. “She is a goal scorer; she is tenacious and she will do what she needs to do to get the ball in the back of the net and she showed it once again today.”
“We found a way to get the win, by getting a goal and then defending and keeping the lead for the win,” said Hornbacher. “To go into the half with a goal under our belts was definitely helpful. Now we had a game plan of preserving the win and still trying to go at them to make them defend us.”

Late in the game, Texas Tech continued to put pressure on the ISU defense, looking to score a game-tying goal. ISU sophomore defender Amanda Purple put up a solid performance maintaining the Cyclone shutout. Of Gleason's seven saves in the match, six were in the second half.
TTU goalkeeper Tina Rincon had several diving saves in the match. Looking to extend their lead, one of the best Cyclone scoring chances was with 32 minutes remaining in the second half. Rincon made a great save off a header shot by the Cyclones' Erin Witte.
