IRVING, TEXAS - Iowa State junior guard Mike Taylor was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Co-Rookie of the Week for games of Nov. 20-27 in voting by a panel of media covering the conference. He shared the award with Missouri's Stefhon Hannah.
Taylor, a native of Milwaukee, Wis., averaged 27.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists in leading the Cyclones to two wins. The junior had a career-best 33 points in a 68-63 tally at Minnesota, followed by 22 points in a 90-61 victory over Lake Superior State. He connected on 12-of-22 (.545) shots from 3-point range and hit at a 48.7 percent clip from the floor overall. Against the Golden Gophers, Taylor scored 20 points in the final 10 minutes to help ISU secure the win. He made six straight 3-pointers versus Lake Superior State, giving him nine in a row dating back to the second half of the Minnesota contest.
It is the first such award for a Cyclone men's basketball player this season. The Cyclones are back in action Wednesday night, traveling to Northern Iowa.
