Cyclone Fans Invited to Volleyball Scrimmage

AMES, Iowa -
Fans are invited to preview the 2006 Iowa State volleyball team at an intrasqaud scrimmage, Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Due to renovations at Hilton Coliseum, the free scrimmage will be held at Ames Middle School. Fans wishing to attend are asked to enter through the far East doors of the school.
The Cyclones return five starters from last year's record-setting squad, including preseason all-Big 12 selection Erin Boeve. The junior shattered the school record with 155 block assists en route to ISU's first-ever all-Big 12 selection. The other starters returning include seniors Katie Jessen, Jessica Klein, Nicole Lorenzen and libero Katie Churm. Last season, Churm became the first Cyclone to lead the Big 12 in any statistical category, averaging 4.35 digs per game.
Iowa State opens its season on Aug. 25, against Chicago State in the Hawkeye Challenge in Iowa City. The Cyclones will also play intrastate rivals Drake and Iowa in the tournament.
