IOWA CITY, Iowa ? Iowa State recorded 16 service aces and hit .437 to sweep Chicago State, 3-0 (30-11, 30-11, 30-13), in its season opener at the Hawkeye Challenge.
The Cyclones (1-0) came out firing on all cylinders as Erin Boeve opened the match with a kill and ISU stormed out to a 17-3 lead. Amy Vos had a pair of aces to give the Cyclones, who hit .333 for the game, a 30-11 game one win.
Vos finished the game with four service aces while Boeve chipped in five kills on six attempts.
Game three was all Cyclones once again as ISU cruised to a 30-13 win to earn the sweep.
