COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Iowa State soccer travels to Colorado Springs, Colo. to play in the Colorado College Invitational this weekend. The Cyclones enter the tournament 3-4-0 after falling in overtime to in-state rival Iowa, 1-0, on Tuesday. Freshman goalkeeper Ann Gleason had a career-high nine saves against Iowa. Iowa State will face Weber State (2-2-2) on Friday and Colorado College (3-1-0) on Sunday.

Scouting the Wildcats
Last weekend the Weber State Wildcats saw back-to-back double overtime draws against South Dakota State, 2-2, and North Dakota State, 0-0, coming out of the weekend 2-2-2 overall. The past two weeks, Weber State has had the Big Sky Confernce Defenseive Players of the Week. Freshman goalkeeper Rebecca Ritchie was honored Sept. 4 and sophomore defender Ashtyn Webster was honored Sept. 11. Through six games, the Wildcats have only allowed six goals in over 595 minutes of play. Shaylee Stegen scored the game-tying goal to send the game into OT vs. SDSU. Hayley McCoy leads the team with six points off two assists in the game against SDSU and two goals. McCoy also has 11 shots on goal this season. Natalie Ellis is the second leading scorer with two goals and nine shots on goal. In the series, Iowa State holds a 1-0 advantage over Weber State, the teams have not met since 2003.

Scouting the Tigers
Colorado College enters the weekend with a 3-1-0 overall record. Last Sunday, the Tigers took a 2-0 lead against Texas Tech at Lubbock, Texas, and went on to win, 2-1. It was the Tigers' first win on the road in seven games. Senior midfielder Katlin Okamoto scored the eventual game-winning goal. Lisa Balsma, Kelly LaVoie and Emily Beans lead the team with two goals apiece. Sophomore goalkeeper Geneva Sills has never allowed more than two goals in any single game, she currently holds a 0.89 goals-against average on 11 saves this season and has a 10-8-3 overall record. In 2006, Colorado College has yet to allow a first-half goal. After years of competing as a Division I Independent, CC makes its debut as an affiliate member of Conference USA this season. Their first C-USA opponent is at University of Tulsa Sept. 29.
"Pack the Stands"
Attendance at the ISU Soccer Complex on Tuesday was the second highest in the program's history. The 586 people who watched the heartbreaker as ISU fell to Iowa in OT, 1-0, rank second only to the 724 who saw the Cyclones defeat Iowa, 2-0, on Sept. 8, 2000.

Cyclones Fall in OT to Iowa
Iowa State dominated much of the second half, but Iowa was able to finish in OT on a goal by Kelsie Full to edge past the Cyclones, 1-0. Iowa snapped ISU's two-game winning streak in the series. The Cyclones fall to 3-4-0 and the Hawkeyes improved to 3-2-1 on the season. Offensively, the Cyclones controlled much of the second half, but were unable to capitalize on their nine shots. ISU had a number of scoring opportunities, including near misses by Leslie Hill, Elise Reid, Erin Witte and Brittanie Waddell. Reid and Witte each had three shots to lead the Cyclones offensively. With the win, Iowa ties the Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk series at two points apiece. Overall, Iowa State holds the advantage in all-time meetings against the Hawks in soccer 4-3-1.
