NDSU Recap
The Iowa State soccer team knocked off North Dakota State, 2-0, Wednesday night at the ISU Soccer Complex. Brittanie Waddell scored her fourth goal of the season off the double-assist from Leslie Hill and Elise Reid nine minutes into the game. The Cyclones' Lauren Odino scored in the second half, her second goal of the season. The early lead was representative of the Cyclones' early offensive domination. In the first half, Iowa State outshot North Dakota State, 10-3. Hill had several scoring opportunities that just barely missed. The Bison picked up the offense at the start of the second half, but the Cyclone defense held NDSU to a total of seven shots. ISU goalkeeper Ann Gleason had four saves on the Bison's four shots-on-goal in the second shutout of her career. Beth Passman, Amanda Purple and Kate Kirwan put a lot of pressure on the ball in the Cyclone defense.
Double Time
Iowa State's first score against NDSU came after Hill drove into the box and crossed the ball, one of many good crosses she had in the game. This time, her pass found Reid, who got a touch on the ball to pull the Bison goalkeeper, Monica Morgan, towards her. Reid then dumped the ball to Waddell who easily touched the ball into the back of the open net to put the Cyclones ahead, 1-0.
Freshmen Leaders
Freshmen Elise Reid and Amanda Nimtz lead the Cyclones with two shots on goal in Wednesday's match against NDSU. Freshman Lauren Odino also had two shots on goal and scored the second goal of her career against NDSU. At the 22:41 mark, she took a shot from 20-yards out on the left side. The nicely placed shot flew to the high right corner of the net. Odino also scored the Cyclones only goal against Weber State on Sept. 15, off the assist from freshman Molly Lohry.
