IRVING, Texas- Iowa State junior guard Mike Taylor won his second Big 12 honor of the season, earning Big 12 Rookie of the Week kudos for games played from Jan. 8-14, announced today by the Big 12 Office. Taylor won his first rookie of the week honor on Nov. 27.
Taylor averaged 21.5 points as Iowa State split two games last week. The Milwaukee, Wis., native poured in 22 points behind a 6-for-10 effort from 3-point range as the Cyclones defeated Nebraska, 71-62. He followed with 21 points against No. 6 Kansas (68-64 overtime loss). He connected on 10 shots from 3-point range in the two games, with nine assists and three steals. He also had eight rebounds for the week. The two scoring outputs were his fifth and sixth 20-point games of the season.
Taylor currently ranks seventh in the Big 12 in scoring at 16.7 ppg and is second in the conference in 3-pointers made per game at 2.82. Taylor has hit 48 treys on the season to rank 16th on ISU's single-season 3-pointers made chart.
