AMES, Iowa ? The Iowa State soccer team has gained recognition from a pair of regional polls this week after a 2-0 weekend. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas poll ranks the Cyclones No. 10 in the Central Region. Meanwhile, Soccer Buzz tabbed ISU at No. 13.
The Cyclones defeated then-No. 16 Oklahoma State, 3-0, and regionally-ranked Oklahoma, 2-0, last weekend. ISU now stands at 6-1-2 overall and 2-0 in the Big 12. The success halfway through the 2007 season ties ISU's best nine-match overall start, a 7-2-0 mark in 1999. The 2-0 Big 12 mark is the best conference start in program history.
The Cyclones were last ranked regionally by Soccer Buzz in the 2006 preseason (No. 13). Meanwhile, the NSCAA last recognized ISU on Nov. 1, 2005, with its highest regional ranking, No. 4, in the Great Lakes Region.
