AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State sophomore soccer student-athletes Ann Gleason and Lauren Fader have been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team for District 7.
Gleason was named to the District 7 First Team, while Fader took second team honors. Gleason is now eligible for All-America honors, which will be voted on later this month.
Gleason maintains a 3.97 grade-point average as an engineering major, and was one of the top goalkeepers in the Big 12 Conference this season. She finished first in the conference in saves (114) for the second consecutive season, while also taking the top spot in save percentage (.864). Gleason also ranked second in saves per game (6.00), third in shutouts (6) and fourth in goals-against average (0.89).
Fader has achieved a 3.89 GPA and is undecided on a major. The Cincinnati, Ohio native was a stalwart on the ISU defensive line in 2007. She started all 19 matches and played a pivotal role in the Cyclones' six shutouts. She also contributed on the offensive end with one assist.
The teams were selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Both academic and athletic achievements were considered in the voting.
