Joining Boeve in double-figures was Lauren Cummings and Jen Malcom with 16 and 15 kills, respectively. Four Cyclones reached double-digits in digs led by Laura Cady with 14 and Ashley Mass with 12. Kaylee Manns had 57 assists and 11 digs in the match to record her 12th double-double of the season.
The Cyclones hit .222 as a team and out blocked the Jayhawks, 14 to 11. ISU also held the Jayhawks to a .157 hitting percentage while out digging KU, 71-69.

The Jayhawks jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the fifth game to force an ISU timeout. The timeout worked as ISU blocked its way to an 8-7 lead as the teams switched courts. KU would bounced back with a rally of its own, scoring five of the next seven points to go on top 12-10 and force the Cyclones to use their final timeout.
