AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State soccer team travels to San Antonio, Texas, Wednesday for its first-round pairing with top-seeded Texas A&M in the 2007 Big 12 Championship.

- Only one No. 8 seed has taken down the No. 1 since the Big 12 switched to an eight-team format in 1999. No. 8 Missouri defeated No. 1 Colorado in 2003. Ironically, No. 7 Oklahoma State also pulled an upset of No. 2 Texas in the same year and the lowest-seeded teams in the tournament met in the championship game. The Cowgirls finally bucked the upset trend and won the final.
- ISU sophomore midfielder Elise Reid and freshman midfielder Jordan Bishop were named all-Big 12 Conference selections. Reid, a second-team pick, scored a team-high five goals and also led the Cyclones with 11 points. Bishop, selected to the all-Newcomer Team, was right behind Reid with four goals and 10 points. Both ISU standouts had a pair of game-winning goals on the season.

- Head coach Rebecca Hornbacher is in her sixth season at ISU. With a record of 45-60-12, she is now the winningest coach in ISU soccer history. She passed Cathy Klein (41 wins) for the top spot on Sept. 28, with a 3-0 win over then-No. 16
- Hornbacher led the Cyclones to their best finish in the Big 12 in 2005, going 11-7-3 (6-3-1 Big 12)(tied for second). The team's reward was the Cyclones' first trip to the NCAA Tournament, while Hornbacher was recognized as the Big 12 Coach of the Year.

- Senior forward Ashlee Pistorius, the 2007 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, is one of the most prolific scorers in Aggie history. Pistorius tied the Aggie record for goals in a career (79) after scoring four times last time out against Baylor. She's also run her points total to 187, second in program history. Pistorius has 23 goals and 52 points this season, both best in the nation, as well as 105 shots.
- The next best goal-scorers for A&M are senior forward Melissa Garey (six) and sophomore defender Nicole Ketchum (five). Senior forward Elisabeth Jones has also contributed four goals and three assists, while Pistorius and freshman midfielder/forward Rachel Shipley share the assists lead with six apiece.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Kristin Arnold leads the Big 12 in goals against average (0.71) and shutouts (7). She's also third in save percentage (.843) and sixth in saves (70).
Gleason Sits Atop Big 12 Goalkeeper Statistics
- Ann Gleason is at or near the top of the Big 12 in every goalkeeper statistic. She's first in save percentage (.857) and second in both saves per game (5.67) and shutouts per game (0.33). Gleason is also tied for second in saves (102) and shutouts (6). Finally, the sophomore ranks fourth in goals-against average (0.89).
