"Tonight we were lackluster in every phase of the game," ISU head coach Greg McDermott said. "We were outrebounded badly in the second half. For some reason, we didn't have it tonight. We knew what to expect from Missouri, but we were not sharp in our preparation. It wasn't there. The light never came on."
Matt Lawrence and Keon Lawrence kickstarted the Tigers early by drilling a trio of 3-pointers to give MU a 15-8 lead with 10:16 left in the opening period. ISU helped the
MU's Kalen Grimes took over after intermission, making his first three shots of the second period. Johnson once again was able to keep ISU close by hitting two more treys, as ISU was down 39-32 with 15:59 left in the game. Johnson finished the game with a career-high five 3-pointers. He has now made 10 3-pointers in his last three games.
The Cyclones cut the lead to three points (39-36) on a pair of baskets from Cory Johnson and Taylor, but Missouri answered with a conventional 3-point play from Keon Lawrence and a fast-break hoop by Leo Lyons to go back up by eight points.
ISU was outmatched inside, as
ISU travels to No. 25 Texas on Saturday (Feb. 10). Tipoff is set for 12:45 p.m.
