The Aggies got on the board in the first, roughing up Iowa State hurler Amie Ford, who was hurt by two errors with two-outs. UC Davis' shortstop Mandi Salcido took advantage of the extra outs, blasting a three-run homer to give the Aggies the 3-0 lead.
Ford and UC Davis pitcher Lindsay Tognetti kept their opponents off the board until the sixth inning when the Aggies tacked on another run on a Erin Emde single that scored Salcido.
Coburn's homer in the bottom of the seventh with two outs cut into the Aggie lead, but Tognetti ended the threat getting Jennifer Bigbee to strike out and end the game.
Ford (3-5) got the loss, allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out six over 5.1 innings. Only one of the runs Ford allowed was earned.
Tognetti (6-3) kept the Cyclones off balance all game, striking out 19 in the game while allowing just five hits.
The Cyclones will conclude tournament play with a
