AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State struggled to solve winds with gusts near 45 mph and the hot hitting of Oklahoma State as the Cyclones fell, 14-0, in its Big 12 home opener.

With the loss, Iowa State falls to 19-25 overall and 0-3 in the Big 12. Oklahoma State improved to 22-19 overall and 1-2 in conference action.

Oklahoma State hit three homers, including a two-run shot and a grand slam from catcher Courtney Totte, and got a strong pitching performance from Jessica Hoppock to claim the win in five innings. Hoppock (11-10) held ISU to just three hits while striking out 10 to pick up the win.

The Cowgirls scored four in the first after a routine pop fly to right field got caught up in the wind and dropped to score two runs. OSU would go on to score two more and jump out to a 4-0 lead after one. They added two more in the second, three in the fourth and five in the fifth to get the win.

Iowa State got hits from Alex Johnson, Katie Reichling and Amanda Bradberry but were unable to get on the board.

Totte finished 4-for-4 with six runs batted in while Krystle Sanchez, Kim Kaye and Shianne Cruce each drove in a pair of runs.

Alyssa Ransom (7-9) was dealt the loss, allowing six runs, only two of which were earned in two innings.
