AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State tennis team will wrap up regular season play as they travel to the Lone Star state this weekend to square off against No. 14 Baylor and Texas Tech on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Saturday's match against the 14th-ranked Bears will start at 1 p.m. in Waco, while Sunday's match with the Red Raiders at the McLeod Tennis Center is set to begin at 10 a.m. in Lubbock.
The Cyclones (5-10, 0-9) are looking for their first conference win of the season and are coming off a 5-2 loss at Missouri last Saturday. Senior Eve Soriano and sophomore Kara Hickey picked up singles wins in the contest.
Baylor (18-6, 9-1) is coming off a 7-0 home sweep over No. 36 TCU on April 18. The Bears come into the final weekend of Big 12 play with a half-game lead over Texas. Baylor, the defending Big 12 tennis champ, brings a 10-match winning streak into this weekend's match against the Cyclones and have three top-90 nationally-ranked singles players in its lineup.
Texas Tech (9-10, 2-7) is coming off a road trip where it fell to Big 12 powerhouses Texas A&M and Baylor 7-0. Iowa State fell to the Red Raiders, 5-2, last year in Ames.
Sunday's match with Texas Tech will be the final regular-season tennis meet for three Iowa State seniors, Jill Palen, Eve Soriano, and Danielle Uscinski.
