ISU Stays Undefeated in Spring Season

AMES, Iowa ? The Iowa State soccer team concluded its spring season at the Best of Iowa Tournament which included Drake, Iowa and Northern Iowa on Saturday in Iowa City, Iowa. In their first game of the tournament the Cyclones played Drake to a scoreless tie. ISU lost in a penalty kick shootout which determined who would advance to the winner's bracket of the tournament.

ISU then went on to beat the UNI Panthers 2-0 in the final match of the spring season. Elise Reid scored the Cyclones' first goal of the match with the assist from Stephanie Kaphingst. Casey Bothwell also scored, to give ISU a 2-0 first half lead that was upheld the rest of the way.

Iowa State finished the spring with a 5-0-1 record. Included in the wins were victories over Northern Iowa, Creighton, Southeast Missouri State, North Dakota and Western Illinois.

The Cyclones' 2007 campaign will open Sunday, Aug. 19, at 1 p.m. as they play host to Creighton in an exhibition match at the Iowa State Soccer Complex.
