Soccer Scores Shutout Over SEMO

AMES, Iowa- The Iowa State soccer team posted a 2-0 win over Southeast Missouri State on Saturday. The Cyclones played at the St. Louis Anheuser Busch Soccer Park in Fenton, Mo., as part of the Hazelwood Central College Showcase. Iowa State's defense earned its second shutout of the spring season behind goalkeeper Ann Gleason. Freshmen Lauren Fader and Casey Bothwell each scored a goal as the Cyclones improved to 3-0 for the spring season.

The Redhawks, who made their first ever appearance at the NCAA Tournament a year ago, were unable to contain the Iowa State offense as Fader got ISU on the board right before the half. Elise Reid took a free kick opportunity for the Cyclones and connected with Fader, who put away the header.

In the second half, the Cyclones took a 2-0 advantage on the goal by Bothwell. Erin Witte sent a cross that found Bothwell in the box. Bothwell settled the pass, and buried the shot in the back of the net from a few yards out.

ISU is back in action this weekend when the Cyclones host Creighton on Sunday at noon. The final home game of the spring season will be played at the Iowa State Soccer Complex, weather permitting, or at the Bergstrom Indoor Practice Facility. Admission is free and open to the public.
