ST. PAUL, Minn. ? Dayton's Mandi Back scored twice, the second in the 107th minute, as the Iowa State soccer team (3-1-1) was defeated, 2-1, Sunday in the final round of the University of Minnesota's Gopher Invitational. Ann Gleason made seven of her eight saves in the second half and overtime.
“It was a physical match,” said ISU head coach Rebecca Hornbacher. “We battled down the stretch to bring it to overtime. We have to be able to put it away when we have opportunities. We'll refocus as a team and prepare for next weekend. Both teams battled but unfortunately, we just fell short late in the game.”
Brittanie Waddell scored her first goal of the season less than two minutes into the contest to give the Cyclones the early lead. Waddell put pressure on the Flyer defense and was able to win a ball in the 18-yard box and squib it past
