AMES, Iowa ? Erin Witte scored twice as the Iowa State soccer team defeated Oakland, 2-1, in its season-opener Sunday afternoon at the ISU Soccer Complex.
The Cyclones (1-0-0) outshot the Golden Grizzlies (0-2-0), 18-4, on the day.

The Witte goals continue a trend set in the preseason as the senior scored in each of the two exhibition games.
Ann Gleason (1-0-0) earned the win in net for the Cyclones, making two saves. Kim Herbst (0-2-0) took the loss for the Golden Grizzlies, corralling seven saves.
