WACO, Texas ? Victoria Henson had 18 kills and Jen Malcom added 14 to lift Iowa State to its first Big 12 road victory of the season, a 3-1 (19-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-19) come-from-behind win at Baylor Saturday afternoon.
“I felt like after that first set we did a much better job passing and serving them tough,” Iowa State head coach Christy Johnson said. “Jen (Malcom) and Victoria (Henson) did a nice job for us offensively and we really came together and played well. This is definitely a big win for us.”

Malcom had just two kills in the first set but finished with 14 while hitting .500 in the match. The senior added a career-best three solo blocks. Ashley Mass had 19 digs in the match for her 44th straight match in double-digits. Kaylee Manns posted her eighth double-double of the season with 47 assists and 12 digs.
As a team, the Cyclones (11-7, 3-4 Big 12) hit .217 while limiting Baylor (12-5, 4-3) to a .174 percentage. ISU posted a season-best six solo blocks to out stuff the Big 12 leader, 10-6.
Baylor was led by 13 kills from Katie Sanders and 24 digs from Allison King.
In the first set, ISU fell behind 8-2 and struggled to get back into it before falling 25-19. The Cyclones were able to close the gap to three on two occasions, including 20-17 but Baylor fought them off for the win. The Bears hit .231 while limiting ISU to a .093 hitting percentage.
In the second set, ISU got six kills from Henson and hit .302 as a team to win 25-21 and even the match at 1-1. With the lead 13-11, ISU rolled off five straight to go up 18-11 following a kill from Manns. The Cyclones had set point at 24-15, but Baylor made it interesting by scoring the next six points before Malcom finished the set with a kill.
Iowa State used an 8-2 run to close out the third set and take the 25-22 win. The Cyclones led 16-11 following three straight kills from Henson, but Baylor scored the next five to tie it at 16-16. The Bears pushed their lead to 20-17 before ISU rallied behind the serve of freshman Caitlin Mahoney. Malcom had seven kills in the set for Iowa State.
Iowa State turned up the defense in the fourth set, holding Baylor to a .065 hitting percentage to win 25-19 and seal up the victory. With the set tied 11-11, ISU scored seven straight to take control of the set and cruise to the win.
Iowa State returns to action Wednesday night with a 6:30 p.m. match against Texas Tech.
