AMES, Iowa?The Iowa State soccer team's Lauren Fader was named a member of the Fall Community of Champions Tuesday by the Big 12 Conference, in conjunction with Chick-Fil-A.
The Big 12 honors one student-athlete from each instituition during the fall, winter and spring terms. To be eligible for the award the student-athlete must have a 3.00 grade-point average or higher, be involved in at least one community service program, and should demonstrate leadership and sportsmanship on and off the field.
Fader, a Cincinnati native and a co-captain on the soccer squad, carries a 3.95 cumulative GPA and is majoring in health and fitness management. She was recognized at the Iowa State Student-Athlete Awards Banquet in the spring as the High Scholar-Athlete.
Fader is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), the Mileage Club and Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Graduation. The Mileage Club promotes health and fitness to elementary school students.
She has started all 16 matches this season while recording one goal (a game winner) and an assist.
