AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State softball team will open its home slate with a doubleheader against Western Illinois on Tuesday at the Southwest Athletic Complex. The Cyclones will then travel to Cedar Falls to play a twin-bill against Northern Iowa on Wednesday. First pitch for Tuesday's games is slated for 2 p.m.

Cyclone Notebook
- Iowa State (20-11) looks to build on a series split against nationally-ranked Baylor over the weekend. The Cyclones dropped Friday's contest 5-0 but rebounded for a 2-1 win on Saturday.
- Third-year Iowa State head coach Stacy Gemeinhardt-Cesler is taking a leave of absence as she is on bed rest expecting twins. Assistant coaches Gary Hines and Crystal Turner will serve as acting head coaches and former Cyclone Alyssa Ransom joins the squad as an interim assistant coach.
- With the win against Baylor, the Cyclones reached 20 wins on the season. ISU has won 20 games in a season just 16 times. This is the 35th season in program history.
- In Saturday's win over the Lady Bears, Sydni Jones blasted her fifth homer of the season in the fourth inning to give the Cyclones a 2-1 lead. Freshman hurler Rachel Zabriskie held BU hitless the rest of the way to pick up her 10th win of the season.
- After opening the season hitting well, ISU is hitting just .195 in the last five games. A bright spot has been second baseman Amanda Bradberry. Bradberry is hitting .417 during the stretch.
- The Cyclones dropped a doubleheader to Creighton last Tuesday in Omaha. Amanda Bradberry had a great day for the Cyclones, going 4-for-5 with a homer and a double. Bradberry drove in the Cyclones' only runs.
- Kristy Olsen stole two bases against the Lady Bears on Saturday and moved into a tie for third all-time at ISU with Lisa Frank (1999-00).
- Sophomore Alex Johnson needs just 10 hits to reach 100 for her career.
- The Cyclones are 17-1 when they score at least three runs. In contrast, ISU is 3-10 when scoring two or less.
- Iowa State has 45 stolen bases on the season, which ranks as the fifth-best single-season in school history. Kelsey Kidwell has 13 steals on the season, just five shy of tying the record.
- The Cyclones have 48 two-out RBI this year after coming through with just 63 RBI last season.
- Alex Johnson is hitting .500 with runners in scoring position this season.
- Iowa State's leading hitter Ariel Coburn suffered a arm injury in the loss to Creighton. Coburn, who is day-to-day, was hitting .400 with a team-best six homers.

Iowa State has 18 homers on the season after hitting 24 a year ago. Sydni Jones' homer against Baylor was ISU's first in a conference game since 2006.
Scouting Western Illinois (3-14, 2-0 The Summit League)
- Western Illinois enters Tuesday's game with just a 3-14 record but a two-game winning streak after sweeping IPFW in its conference opener.
- Against IPFW, first baseman Samantha Valentine went 5-for-7 and drove in six runs.
- Valentine leads the way with a .373 average while right fielder Colleen Biebel has also had a solid year at the plate, registering a .341 average. The Westerwinds have had trouble producing runs with Valentine pacing the team with 10 RBI.
- In the circle, Kamren Ferguson gets the majority of the work and has a 2-9 record and a 3.34 ERA. Courtney Jacobson picked up her first win of the season in game two of the doubleheader against IPFW and sits at 1-3 overall with a 3.27 ERA.
- The Cyclones hold a 13-6-1 edge in the all-time series, including a doubleheader sweep last year in Macomb, Ill.
Scouting Northern Iowa (10-12, 0-3 Missouri Valley)
- Northern Iowa is 10-12 but hasn't played since March 16 after its Missouri Valley series at Southern Illinois was cancelled over the weekend.
- The Panthers are led by Stephanie Aguero hits .444 with seven doubles and 12 RBI. Aguero is followed closely by Megan Machovec, who hits .418. Machovec leads the team with four stolen bases on six attempts.
- The UNI pitching staff owns a 2.93 ERA and allows opponents to hit .274 against them. Ashley Lepley (5-4, 3.76 ERA) and Jen Larsen (3-6, 2.36) see the majority of time in the circle for the Panthers.
- The Cyclones own a 34-32-1 edge in the all-time series. ISU swept last season's doubleheader.
