AMES, Iowa ? Former Iowa State center Jiri Hubalek, who averaged 12.4 points and 7.3 rebounds while earning third-team all-Big 12 last season, was a last-minute invitee to the NBA Pre-Draft Camp, May 26-30 in Orlando, Fla. The camp is a showcase for the best basketball players in the world who are draft eligible.
Hubalek earned all-tournament honors at the Portsmouth Invitational in April, averaging 17.7 points and 8.7 rebounds at the senior-only camp. Hubalek is hoping to improve his draft stock this week in Orlando.
Another former Cyclone, Mike Taylor, will be at the camp and will aim to improve his draft status. Taylor was an honorable mention all-Big 12 pick in the 2006-07 season after averaging 16.0 ppg for the Cyclones. He averaged 14.5 points while leading his Idaho Stampede to the 2008 NBDL title this past season.
