Cyclone Notebook ? After 32 road games, Iowa State will begin its home schedule Wednesday afternoon when it plays host to Northern Iowa at the Southwest Athletic Complex.
? The Cyclones have won three of the last five against the Panthers. The teams split last season's series, which were played at UNI.
? The Cyclones need three more wins to reach 20 in a season for the third-straight year. It will be the first time that ISU has won 20 or more games in a season three times in a row in over 20 years (1985-89).
? Carleigh Berry and
Courtney Wray have been hot as of late for ISU. Berry is hitting .588 (10-for-17) over the last five games while Wray is batting .412 (7-for-17) with four doubles during the stretch.
? Berry is 12-for-13 on stolen bases, leaving her just six stolen bases shy of the single-season mark at ISU. Her 23 career stolen bases is eighth all-time for the Cyclones.
? Wray is currently riding a three-game hitting streak. She was the only player to record a hit in Sunday's contest against Oklahoma.
? In the Cyclones win over Missouri State last Thursday, Wray set a career-high with three doubles in the 6-5 win. Berry also had the best game of her career, finishing 5-for-6 with three runs and a double.
?
Alex Johnson has driven in 23 runs this season and she is third all-time at ISU with 86 career RBI. With two more RBI she will tie Erica Martinez for second all-time.
? Wray is currently sixth all-time at ISU for batting average (.304).
? Johnson and Wray are tied for eighth all-time at ISU with 134 career hits.
? Johnson's next multiple RBI game will be the 20th of her career.
Courtney Wray is second on the team actively with 14 multi-RBI games.
?
Rachel Zabriskie's win over Missouri State was the 25th of her career. Only 17 pitchers in school history have 25 career wins.
?
Charissa Carlin suffered an arm injury in the Oklahoma game Sunday and it will likely keep her out the remainder of the season. Carlin has 26 career wins.
? Zabriskie has notched 272 career strikeouts, good for 10th all-time at ISU. The sophomore needs just three more to tie
Amie Ford (2006-08).
? Zabriskie averages 5.61 strikeouts per game, the seventh-highest total in school history.
? The pitching staff as a whole has struggled as of late, posting an ERA of 4.34 over the last five games as compared to a 2.45 ERA this season.
? The fielding has got better for ISU, posting just one error in the last three games and none in two games at Oklahoma.
? The Cyclones are hitting .316 with runners in scoring position this season. Berry leads the way hitting .471 (16-for-34) with runners at second or third. Wray is second on the team hitting .464 (13-for-28) in the situation.
? ISU has actually been better with runners in scoring position than with the bases empty, where they hit .224.
Scouting Northern Iowa
? Northern Iowa enters Wednesday's game at 19-8 overall after taking two of three games from Southern Illinois. The Panthers are 5-1 in the Missouri Valley after winning the series with the Salukis.
? The Panthers are 2-4 against Big 12 teams this season, beating Kansas twice while losing to Nebraska (2-1), Missouri (2-1), Oklahoma (8-0) and Oklahoma State (9-1).
? UNI hits .292 as a team and has hit 23 homers. Leadoff hitter Megan Machovec sets the table hitting .423 while catcher Kelly Papesh has a team-high seven homers while cleanup hitter Rachel Gerking leads the way with 24 RBI.
? The Panthers are 31-for-39 on stolen bases, led by Samantha Walters, who is 9-for-9. Machovec is 8-for-11 this season.
? The UNI pitching staff boasts a 2.63 ERA led by junior Jen Larsen, who is 9-4 with a 1.46 ERA. Five pitchers have won a game for the Panthers this season.
