AMES, Iowa?Five Iowa State soccer players were members of the championship squad of the senior open competitive division for females at the Iowa Games played Friday through Sunday at the Towers Intramural Fields.
Additionally, head coach Wendy Dillinger played on the second-place Ames Hurricanes squad that played in the senior open recreation division for females.
Junior Jordan Bishop, senior Casey Bothwell, junior Ashley Costanzo, senior Lauren Fader and freshman Megan Long played on the Waukee Coaches squad that went 2-1 in the four-team round robin division.
Fader felt that having the ability to play with her returning teammates and the newcomer Long was beneficial with preseason quickly approaching.
“It was good for us to get some playing time together and get touches on the ball,” Fader said. “It really helped to get used to playing with Megan (Long) to build cohesion and work with each other to learn how we play together.”
The Cyclones begin their regular-season slate Aug. 21 when they travel to Creighton for a 7 p.m. match. ISU opens its home schedule Aug. 28 when South Dakota State travels to Ames for a 7 p.m. tilt.
