NORMAN, Okla. - Iowa State senior Victoria Henson had her second-straight 20-plus kill performance becoming the Cyclones' all-time kills leader with 1,625 but was unable to get the Cyclones past Oklahoma on Saturday. The Sooners 19-8, 11-5 Big 12) came back after dropping the first set to beat the No. 14 Cyclones (17-7, 10-6), 24-26, 25-21, 25-20 at McCasland Field House in Norman, Okla.
The Cyclones never hit over .204 in a set while making costly errors, including a service error to end the match. For its part, Oklahoma hit .244 and .239 in sets three and four, respectively, beating the Cyclones defense and securing the victory.
Carly Jenson recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 16 kills and a career-high 18 digs on the day. Henson collected her 27th career double-double, adding 11 digs to her 21 kills. Setter Alison Landwehr got in on the double-double action with her 10th of the year, grabbing 12 digs and 52 assists.
Jamie Straube had a season-high seven block assists and hit .360 with 10 kills in another stellar match for the sophomore.
Freshman Cyclone Kristen Hahn got her first start in an Iowa State uniform against the Sooners and finishing the day with 16 digs, a career-high.
Hitting .180 in their game one win, the Cyclones held the Sooners at bay with four blocks, contributing to Oklahoma's .170 hitting mark.
The Sooners defense kicked into gear in game two, recording six blocks to Iowa State's two and continued to win the dig war against the Cyclones, heading into the locker room with the 43-38 edge and a 1-1 tie.
Coming out strong in game three, Oklahoma got the 2-1 set lead behind five kills from junior Caitlin Higgins and .244 team hitting.
