“We are excited to welcome this exceptional group in our 2010 class,” Dillinger said. “The wide variety of talent, wealth of high-level experience and success will make an immediate impact in the soccer program. In the process of identifying and recruiting talented student-athletes for this class we were looking for something special. We wanted to bring in student-athletes who have competed at a high level, who possess not only athletic ability and skill but also a very deep passion for the game. This group loves soccer and each of them brings something special that will be noticeable the first time they take the field next August. Fierce competitors, they possess the mentality we need to compete in the Big 12 and the tenacity to get results. The class fits in very well with our veterans and we as a staff cannot wait for next August. In addition to being talented soccer players all nine of these class members are exceptional students who will contribute significantly to our academic community. It is with great pride we welcome this class of 2010 and their families to the Iowa State University Cyclone family.”
Goldstein (midfielder) is ranked No. 93 on the TopDrawerSoccer.com national rankings for high school seniors and No. 16 in the Southern California Region. Graboski (midfielder) played on the Olympic Development (ODP) Region 2 squad and her high school team was ranked No. 1 nationally for a majority of the 2009 campaign. Jobe (goalkeeper) was named Ms. Minnesota Soccer in 2009. Morgan (forward) was a member of the 2008 United States Youth Soccer national championship squad and tied for third in goals scored at the 2009 national championship tournament. Green (midfielder), Kucera (midfielder), Potterveld (forward/midfielder), Powers (midfielder) and Stewart (defender) boast resumes that are filled with all-state honors, high school and club state championships and ODP experience.
The ISU coaching staff put a clear emphasis on offense for the 2010, as seven of the nine newcomers are either forwards or midfielders.
“This group contains a variety of styles, which is going to give us options building the attack because if the other team shuts down one of our styles, we will have other ways to attack,” Dillinger said. “The mentality of this group is offensive minded and scoring goals is second nature to them.”
