COLLEGE STATION, Texas- The Iowa State tennis team fell 6-1 to 34th-ranked Texas A&M, dropping to 9-11 for the season and 2-6 in the Big 12 Conference.

With inclement weather moving into the area, the match kicked off with singles action. In the No. 2 singles slot, Maria Macedo took the Cyclone's first loss of the day, falling 6-1, 6-0 to 72nd-ranked Nazari Urbina, before Tessa Lang fell 6-2, 6-2 to 109th-ranked Morgan Frank.

Marie-Christine Chartier picked up the Cyclones' only win of the match, pulling out a quick 6-2, 6-1 decision over A&M's Lauren Santacroce in the No. singles 5 slot.

In the No. 6 slot, Liza Wischer dropped her first set, 6-1, to Christi Liles before falling 7-5 in the second. Erin Karonis took a tough 6-2, 7-5 loss from 65th-ranked Elz? Potgieter in the No. 1 slot. Jenna Langhorst dropped her first set against Sheri Olivier, 6-2, before falling in the second, 6-4.

With the match decided in the Aggies' favor, play continued with doubles action. A&M's Liles and Olivier delivered an 8-1 decision over Alyssa Palen and Wischer, while Stephanie Davidson and Frank defeated Karonis and Langhorst, 8-3 in the No. 2 slot. Macedo and Lang suffered an 8-6 loss to 29th-ranked Potgieter and Urbina in the No. 1 doubles slot.

Iowa State will take on 20th-ranked Texas (11-4) Saturday in Austin, Texas, at 2 p.m.
