ISU Tennis Drops Decision to No. 20 Texas

AUSTIN, Texas- The Iowa State tennis team took a loss from another Big 12 foe, falling 7-0 to 20th-ranked Texas. The Cyclones fell to 9-12 on the season and 2-7 in Big 12 Conference play.

Play got underway with singles due to weather in the area. The Longhorns' Sarah Lancaster earned a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Tessa Lang in the No. 3 slot, as ISU's Liza Wischer fell 6-2, 6-1 to Abby Liu. Jenna Langhorst dropped 6-3, 6-3 to UT's Maggie Mello in the No. 4 slot. Maria Macedo picked up the win in her first set against 57th-ranked Krista Damico in the No. 2 slot before falling, 6-2, 6-2, in the second and third sets.

With the match decided in the Longhorns' favor, Erin Karonis defeated 58th-ranked Vanja Corovic, 6-3, in the first set before dropping the second and third, 6-3, 6-4. In the No. 5 slot, Marie-Christine Chartier fell 6-0 to Caroline Larsson in the first set. Chartier fought back to win the second set, 6-3, before dropping the third, 6-4.

In doubles action, Karonis and Langhorst fell, 8-2, to Lancaster and Mello in the No. 2 slot. Macedo and Lang defeated Amanda Craddock and Damico, 8-4, before Alyssa Palen and Wischer fell to Liu and Maya Zein-El-Abdin, 8-6.

Iowa State will travel to Stillwater, Okla., April 23, to face Oklahoma State (10-7) at 2 p.m.
