AMES, Iowa?Heavy flooding in the Ames community in August and a seven-game road trip has resulted in the Iowa State soccer team not playing a true home match this season. However, the Cyclones are set to return to the ISU Soccer Complex Friday at 6:30 p.m. in a Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series match against Iowa.
The Cyclones played their only home match so far this season at the Prairie Ridge Sports Complex in Ankeny on Aug. 20 against Drake.
“Everyone has responded well to some of the challenges the flooding presented,” Iowa State head coach
Wendy Dillinger said. “All of our players are excited to be playing at home. There's been a lot of coordination since the flooding, and it's gone very well. The athletic trainers have been forced to work much later and the grounds crew and staff have done great job to get the field ready to play. It's been a unified effort to make this happen.”
Admission to Friday's match and all Iowa State home soccer games is free.
