AUSTIN, Texas - ¬Senior Carly Jenson had 11 kills and libero Kristen Hahn collected 19 digs but No. 9 Texas (15-4, 9-1 Big 12) was too much for the No. 14 Cyclones (17-4, 8-2) on Friday, downing the visitors in straight-sets, 25-14, 28-26, 25-21. The Cyclones slip to second in the Big 12 for the first time this season as Texas takes over the top spot with its lone conference loss at Oklahoma.

The Longhorns took control early in set one, posting four blocks with only two attack errors and 16 kills as the Cyclones were unable to block a ball in the 25-14 loss. Longhorn Bailey Webster led the teams with five kills. Hannah Willms had three kills for the Cyclones.
The teams fought back and forth throughout the second set, tying 14 times and swapping leads eight times. Iowa State faced set point at 24-21 before a 3-0 run tied the set at 24 points each. The Longhorns claimed three more set points before freshman Khat Bell smashed an ace for the 2-0 match lead.
Set three was more of the same as the teams knotted up four times but the Longhorns never relinquished the lead as Bell and Webster combined for eight kills to lead Texas to the sweep. Bell was 13-for-16 (.812) on the night with no errors. She added six blocks and setter Hannah Allison collected four blocks.
