MORGANTOWN, W.Va – No. 18 Iowa State (19-7, 12-3 Big 12) defeated West Virginia (8-21, 0-15 Big 12) in three sets Wednesday night for its ninth-straight win, 25-13, 25-17, 25-11.
The Cyclones breezed to a first set win, hitting .500 with only two attack errors. Bigbee and
Andie Malloy each led the team with four kills. Hurtt and West Virginia's Caleah Wells both had three kills.
Set two was closer but .324 hitting and three blocks by Iowa State got the best of the Mountaineers who hit just .077 in the set and went to the locker room with a .111 clip for the night. Bigbee, Matlock and
Tory Knuth all picked up four kills for the Cyclones with Bigbee and Knuth recording solo blocks.
The Cyclones emptied their bench in the final set with
Taylor Goetz recording a dig and
Bria Rasmussen scoring her first career ace. Iowa State hit .519 in the set and finishes the night with a .433 mark.
The Mountaineers were led on offense by Wells' five kills. Libero Anna Panagiotakopoulos had 10 digs.
