HOUSTON, Texas – Iowa State fell in a 5-2 decision against No. 48 Stephen F. Austin today at the University of Houston's John E. Hoff Tennis Complex. The Lumberjacks' record improves to 12-2 and Iowa State drops to 3-10 overall.

The two Cyclone wins of the day came from No. 2 and 3 singles. Ksenia Pronina, a freshman, nabbed the win over Aliza Shazhko in the second spot, beating the Lumberjack 5-7, 7-5, 10-3.

Pronina's junior teammate, Simona Cacciuttolo, kept her energy up at No. 3, where she and Antonia Kolovou battled back-and-forth for the last point of the day. Cacciuttolo snagged the hard-fought win, scoring 7-6, 2-6, 10-4.

The match against SFA marks the end of non-conference play for the Cyclones. The team will host its first Big 12 matches of the spring this weekend. Iowa State will face the University of Texas at 2 p.m. Friday, and the Cyclones will square off against Texas A&M at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Weather permitting; both matches will be played outdoors at the Forker Tennis Courts. The matches will be moved inside to the Ames Racquet and Fitness Center otherwise.
