AMES, Iowa- The Iowa State soccer team earned another impressive academic accolade Thursday, when they earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award.
The NSCAA honors men's and women's soccer teams who excelled in the classroom in addition to their on field work. This season 862 teams (269 men, 593 women) posted a 3.0 GPA or higher and were chosen for the award. The Cyclones held a 3.31 team GPA throughout the 2012-13 academic year and were led by Jessica Reyes who earned a 4.0 GPA.
The award comes after the Cyclones had 14 players earn academic All-Big 12 honors, good enough for second best in the conference. The Cyclones advanced to the Big 12 tournament for the first time since 2007 this season.
