AMES, Iowa - Iowa State assistant soccer coach Tony Minatta is set to embark on a week-long coaching workshop in Italy as a part of the 2013 U.S. Soccer Education Workshop.
Minatta will work with coaches in Rome, Milan and Florence from March 15-22. Italy is the home of the four-time World Cup-winning men's national team and some of the top professional club teams in the world. Minatta will have the opportunity to learn from coaches from club teams: AC Milan, Inter Milan, AS Roma and Lazio as well as coaches from the Italian national team.
"I am very excited and humbled to take part in the U.S. Soccer international workshop in Italy," Minatta said. "Learning from some of the world's most renowned coaches and professional clubs is the chance of a lifetime and an invaluable experience. I cannot wait to bring the knowledge and experience I gain back to the ISU soccer program. I am very grateful to all those who have made this possible."
During his time in Italy, Minatta will attend training sessions, games and lectures that feature some of the top minds in soccer.
Minatta will provide pictures and updates throughout his trip to Italy that can be found on the Iowa State soccer team's official twitter feed (@cycloneSCR) and Facebook page.
