Last time out
The Cyclones defeated Western Illinois 2-0 on a pair of goals from Jennifer Dominguez and Erin Green. Iowa State dominated the game offensively, pelting 26 shots and 10 shots on goal at the Leathernecks goal. The Cyclones controlled most of the game, allowing Western Illinois very few offensive looks.
Scouting the Golden Gophers
Minnesota (3-0) is coming off three straight victories over Green Bay, Toledo and North Dakota State. The Golden Gophers are led by a strong offensive attack as they have outscored opponents 9-3 this season. Katie Thyken, the Gophers second leading scorer last season, already has one goal this season and looks to lead the team's offensive charge. Minnesota leads the all-time series 5-1.
What to watch for
A key matchup in this game will be the Cyclone defense against the Gophers offense. Senior goalkeeper Maddie Jobe has already registered a shutout and 8 saves so far this season for the Cyclones. The Iowa State star ranks second all-time in saves (15) in the Cyclone record book. Iowa State defense will look to stop a Minnesota offense that has more than doubled their opponents total scores this season.
The game will mark the second of the season to be played at the Cyclone Sports Complex. Cyclones.tv will have a live broadcast of the match, and results will be available on Cyclones.com at the conclusion of the game.
