CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Iowa State gymnastics team (1-4 overall, 0-1 Big 12) posted its highest score of the season, in a 196.425-194.850 loss to No. 16 Oregon State Saturday evening in Gill Coliseum. The Cyclones posted team season-high scores on beam and uneven bars and ISU tied its season-high team score on vault.
Once again,
Caitlin Brown established a new career-high score in the all-around competition with her 39.150 combined score across the four events.
Uneven Parallel BarsThe Cyclones posted their highest team score of the season on bars, with a 48.850. The highlight of Iowa State's first rotation came when Camille Santerre received a 9.850, the Cyclones' highest score of the season on bars.
Henrietta Green also tied her season-best with a score of 9.825.
VaultIowa State matched its best effort of the season on vault, with a score of 48.450. Three gymnasts either tied or set new season-bests in the Cyclones' second rotation.
Caitlin Brown led the way with the Cyclones' highest vault score of the season, a 9.750.
Sara Townsend and
Alex Marasco followed suit with season-highs of 9.725.
Floor ExerciseMilan Ivory anchored the Cyclones' third rotation and put up the best score of the night for Iowa State with a 9.825. Iowa State was solid all around on floor, with
Henrietta Green posting a 9.800, followed by a 9.775 for
Caitlin Brown.
BeamCaitlin Brown posted the highest Cyclone score of the season on beam and tied a career high with a 9.875 to lead the way in Iowa State's final rotation. The performance also wrapped up Brown's career-high evening in the all-around as she finished the evening second in the all-around competition at 39.150.
Iowa State had two other gymnasts go over 9.8 on beam, as well.
Alex Marasco posted a career-high 9.8500 and
Milan Ivory anchored the final rotation and scored a 9.825. The Cyclones' final rotation was also highlighted by the return of All-American
Michelle Shealy, who competed for the first time this season and posted a score of 9.725.
