Cyclones Take Third At Quad-Meet
02.16.2014 | Gymnastics
DEKALB, Ill. – The Iowa State gymnastics team (3-6 overall, 1-1 Big 12) placed third in their quad-meet, scoring a 192.725. Texas Women's University (193.875) took first, Northern Illinois (193.825) was second and UW-Whitewater (191.800) took fourth.
Uneven Parallel Bars
Camille Santerre and Henrietta Green were the two highlights of Iowa State's first rotation. Green tied a season-best effort, posting a 9.825 for the fourth time this year. Coming off a record-setting 9.95 on Feb. 7 against West Virginia, Santerre was spectacular once again, scoring a 9.900 to win the bars competition.
Floor Exercise
Finishing strong was the story in the floor exercise for Iowa State. Caitlin Brown (9.8), Green (9.825) and Milan Ivory (9.85) stepped up with the Cyclones in a tough position and all three hit their routines, going 9.8 or better. Ivory won the event with Green in second and Brown tied for third. Iowa State's team score on floor was 48.775.
Vault
Brown had the highlight of the Cyclones' final rotation, tying her season-high with a 9.800 and tying for the event win. Down two gymnasts due to injury, the Cyclones were only able to put up five competitors on vault, thus having to count a fall to the team score.
Balance Beam
Michelle Shealy and Alex Marasco were Iowa State's best performers on balance beam. The duo both scored 9.775's for event wins in what was an otherwise tough rotation for the Cyclones.
Up Next
The Cyclones will be back in action on Friday as they take on Minnesota at 6:30 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum.
