WACO, Texas- The Iowa State tennis team (8-9, 0-4 Big 12) fell 7-0 to No. 14 Baylor (12-6, 3-0 Big 12) on Sunday in Waco, Texas. The Bears were the Cyclones' highest-ranked opponents yet this season.
In doubles play, freshman
Samantha Budai and junior
Ksenia Pronina took on Blair Shankle and Alex Clay at the No. 1 slot, falling to the duo, 8-4.
Pronina and Budai joined teammate
Meghan Cassens in taking on ranked singles opponents. Budai finished with a 6-3, 6-0 loss to No. 68-ranked Ema Burgic at the No. 2 slot. Cassens fell 6-1, 6-2 to No. 122-ranked Jordaan Sanford at No. 3 singles.
The Cyclones will be back in Ames next Friday to take on TCU. Play is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
