Cancelled Event: Volleyball versus Minnesota

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State volleyball team swept Tennessee 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-16) Friday night in Hilton Coliseum. The win marked the second-straight sweep of the Iowa State Challenge for the Cyclones, who swept Omaha Thursday night in the first match of the Iowa State Challenge, and improves their record to 2-2 on the season.
Turning Point of the Match
After winning the first set of the match, 25-14, the Lady Vols led 8-3 partway into the second set. The Cyclones rallied together to quickly come back with a 6-1 run, tying the score and putting ISU in place to pull ahead, eventually taking the second set, 25-17.
Ciara Capezio finished the second set with nine kills alongside Mackenzie Bigbee's seven kills, giving the Cyclones the momentum they needed to finish strong.
Cyclone Match Ball Goes to…
Alexis Conaway. Conaway led the team Friday with seven of the Cyclones' 14 block assists against Tennessee, followed by Suzanne Horner's three. The Cyclones, who came into the match with only nine total blocks in three games, doubled that total against the Lady Vols. Conaway also contributed five kills.
An honorable mention to Ciara Capezio for leading the offense with 12 kills and a .346 hitting percentage.

On Deck
The Cyclones will host Northern Illinois in the championship match of the Iowa State Challenge on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum. Both teams are 2-0 so far in the tournament.
Iowa State fans with a ticket to tomorrow's football game against Kansas State can redeem their ticket stub at the Hilton Coliseum ticket office for a two dollar ticket to tomorrow's match against the Huskies.
