AMES, Iowa – Senior point guard
Nikki Moody netted 16 points and dished nine assists, tying the Iowa State school record for career assists with 719 in her career as Iowa State (17-10, 8-8 Big 12) defeated Texas Tech (15-13, 5-11 Big 12), 59-47 Tuesday night at Hilton Coliseum.
How It Happened…Some smooth play by
Nikki Moody in the first half gave the Cyclones a nice cushion when it entered the locker room at half. Moody was responsible for 10 of Iowa State's 12 baskets in the first half as the Cyclones cruised to a 33-21 halftime lead.
Moody racked up nine points and dished six dimes in the first, while
Seanna Johnson went 3-of-3 from 3-point land for nine first-half points.
Fallon Ellis was also big for the Cyclones, as the senior netted five points and grabbed five rebounds in her second start of the season.
Iowa State would keep up the pressure and push the lead to as much as 21 in the second half. The Cyclones would continue to perform strongly on defense, holding TTU to 20-of-56 from the field (35.7 percent).
